March 21, 2000: New Version of the DeviceNet Conformance Test

The Composite Version of the DeviceNet Conformance Test is now 14!   The Conformance Test Software has been updated to Version A-13, and the Physical Layer Test has been updated to Version B-4 (advise only!). Version B-3 of the Physical Layer Test remains pass/fail.  Please go to the Documents page and review the new Physical Layer Test Specification prior to submitting your device for testing, since it is a very complete test.  Vendors have a 30-day grace period to still be tested at Composite Version 13 if they desire.  After 30 days, all tests conducted will be to Version 14.

March 1, 2000: Lab Relocation

The Sensor Bus Laboratories have moved to the 2nd floor of the Engineering Programs Building on the U of M North Campus.   Directions to the new location are on the Travel Info page.

September '99, New Student Researchers:

New UROP (Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program) students have begun work in the lab.  Adam Koch and Curt Prudden join our team to assist in DeviceNet testing and performance analysis.

June 1, 1999: New Conformance Test Policy, Interoperability Test, and EDS Checker

ODVA has officially released a new Conformance Test Policy and DeviceNet Interoperability Test Specification Version 2.0.  All devices tested by the lab must pass this new Interoperability Test.  Also, ODVA has released an EDS Checker Tool.   All EDS files supplied with devices for testing must pass this checker.  The Conformance Test Policy, Interoperability Test Specification, and EDS Checker Manual are available in the Documents section.

May 18, 1999: New ControlNet Conformance Test Version

Version 7 of the ControlNet Conformance Software has been built and sent to ControlNet International for official release.  All device tests conducted by the lab will now use this version.

April 9, 1999: New ControlNet Conformance Test Version

Version 6 of the ControlNet Conformance Software has been built and sent to ControlNet International for official release.  All device tests conducted by the lab will now use this version.

March 11, 1999: New Conformance Test Versions

Version A-12 of the DeviceNet Conformance Test Software and Version 5 of the ControlNet Conformance Software have been released!  All device tests conducted by the labs will now use these versions.

February 19, 1999: New DeviceNet Interoperability Test Specification released for review

The new test specification has been compiled by John Korsakas of the U of M lab, and it has been submitted to the Conformance SIG for final review.  Copies of the current and new Interoperability Test Specifications are available on the Documents page.  NOTE: the current test is now pass/fail - all devices being conformance tested MUST pass this test!

January 24-27, 1999: 5th Annual ODVA meeting:

At the Conformance SIG meetings, the existing Interoperability Test was voted to become a pass/fail test.  Additional tests were added from proposals from ODVA-Japan and The University of Warwick.  John Korsakas of the U of M lab was assigned the task of compiling the new test specification.  A new Physical Layer Test was also discussed, and should be reviewed and accepted in the near future.

General Motors announced that all devices they use must be conformance tested.

November 1998: New Conformance Test Software Version:

Version A-11 of the DeviceNet Conformance Software has been released.   This has been deployed in the lab.  All tests will be conducted on this new version, as version A-10 will no longer be used.

October 1998, Website Refurbishment:

With new student researchers in the lab, the University of Michigan Sensor Bus Laboratory's website has been redesigned by the eager HTML enthusiasts.  There is still some work to done, but otherwise email the lab and give your opinion.

September 1998, New Student Researchers:

New UROP (Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program) participants have begun work in the lab.  Junior Gayatri Rao, sophomore Tom Appledorn, and freshman Warren Strong join the ranks of the lab.  They have begun work on the DeviceNet board, this website, and otherwise learning the workings of the facilities.

May 1, 1998, Farewell to Jigney Shah, Welcome New Graduate Students:

The Sensor Bus Labs manager, Jigney Shah, has graduated from the University and is moving out into the real world! We wish Jigney all the best in his career. Also, two new graduate students, John Korsakas and Feng-Li Lian, have joined the Sensor Bus Lab staff. John and Feng-Li will be conducting the DeviceNet and ControlNet testing, and researching new and hot topics in Sensor Bus Systems.

February 1998, Lab Relocation:

The Conformance Testing Laboratories have moved to the Center for Display Technology and Manufacturing on the U of M North Campus.
