Georgia Tech's Budget for Summer Computing Camps 2011

At Georgia Tech in 2011 we charged $185 for 5 days and 148 for 4 days for the high school camps. We charged $285 for 5 days and $228 for 4 days for the elementary and middle school camps. We have found that we couldn't charge the high school students the same amount as the middle school students as they can work and don't need day-care. We capped enrollment at 30 students per week. We try to give about 20% students a reduced rate on the camp fee of $75.00. For 2011 we offered 2 weeks of high school camps, 2 weeks of middle school camps, and 4 weeks of elementary school camps. The high school camps do not make enough to cover expenses, but the middle and elementary school camps make more than enough to cover the shortfall and enable us to make a profit (not including the cost of laptops, robotic kits, or administrative help).

We also charge $15.00 per application at 181 applications was $2,715 so the total income was $42,598.

We pay the teacher $1,200 a week. We pay for one undergraduate student assistants at $12-16 per hour. We pay for high school student assistants at $8.00 an hour. We pay for a t-shirt and lunch for all students.
