For GUItreeFlowed, you see your panel, button1, and button2 all in a row because a flowLayout simply adds new things in the order that they are added. GUItreeBordered shows the panel above the 2 buttons, this is because in borderLayout you set items to N/S/E/W/C depending on where you want them to go.
