This workshop will be held June 19th-22nd 2007 at Georgia Tech. You must attend all 4 days in order to receive 3 PLUs. The workshop hours are from 8:30am - 4:30pm each day. There is no fee for this workshop for Georgia teachers. Out of state teachers will pay $425.00.

This workshop is for teachers who took the Beginning Programming and Systems Workshop in the Summer of 2004 or 2005, or the Beginning Programming in Java workshop in the summer of 2006, or who have experience in a programming language such as Visual Basic, C++, C#, or Java.

You are not required to stay residential for this workshop. However, if your home is more than 30 miles from Georgia Tech, and you are a Georgia teacher, we will cover your hotel, parking, and meals (thanks to a grant from the National Science Foundation). You will be staying at the Regency Suites Hotel (http://www.regencysuites.com/amenities.htm) with 2 teachers per room unless you wish to pay for the additional cost of a private room ($57.50 a night plus tax).

We will cover working with sound, graphics, movies, and games. We will talk about Java syntax, iteration, and conditionals. We will cover class and object variables (fields) and methods. We will also cover object-oriented principles: objects, classes, encapsulation, inheritance, polymorphism.

This course should prepare you to be able to teach the new Intermediate Programming course and take the College Board AP workshop either the same summer or the next summer. You should only take it the same summer if you have taught Java for one year or more.
