Robustness of Adaptive versus Fixed
We will compare the efficiency of the adaptive myopic rule
MP versus the best
fixed rule BF, where MP designed once, using weak prior assumptions, and
analyzed for various distributions, while a new BF rule
is designed and analyzed for each distribution. Specifically,
- Single MP designed with uniform priors:
- A collection of BF rules designed with priors:
- Both MP and BF analyzed with parameters:
- The efficiency of MP relative to BF is determined and plotted below.
Efficiency of MP relative to BF
Adaptation is more powerful than fixed allocation, even when
fixed allocation has better priors.
