Smart Writer is a text editor that supports not only free hand drawing, but a hand recgnition feature as well.  With traditional text editors, users are limited by font types and line space boundaries.  But with Smart Writer, the user's ideas and thoughts can be fully conveyed with words and pictures.  Furthermore, equipped with a hand recognition tool and a vast array of gestures, Smart Writer is ideal for all situations, especially for writing memos and blueprinting ideas.

Smart Writer is a document based application written in Microsoft Foundation Class.  In its first year of development, Smart Writer is in a reserach status.  Microsoft is funding the project and Professor Atul Prakash of the EECS department of the Unversity of Michigan, is the director.
