Date: Tue, 14 Nov 2006 15:27:48 -0500 (EST) Subject: CS 615 Final Project Presentation Sign-Up I am sending this email to everyone ITC reports to be signed up for CS 615 (Fall 2006). The vast majority of your CS 615 grade will be based on your final project. Part of your final project is an in-class presentation. http://www.cs.virginia.edu/~weimer/615/projects.html There are eleven people signed up to take the course for credit. If you think you are auditing the course and I have you down for credit (or the other way around, or if you plan to drop the course, or whatever) *let me know now*. The presentations will take place on the following two days with five or six presentations each day: Thursday November 30, 5:00pm to 7:00pm Tuesday December 05, 5:00pm to 7:00pm Each presentation slot will be a total of 20 minutes. You must fit your presented material *and* time for questions in those 20 minutes. This should be a conference-style presentation: heavy on motivation and introductory material, light on details. You should practice your presentation multiple times. See the speech evaluation form (which your classmates be using to evaluate you) for more ideas or come talk to me. Part of your project grade comes from your evaluations of the other speakers; you may not skip the other presentations and just show up to give yours (even though that happens in real life, sigh). Since class time will be extended for these presentations, you should bring a small snack on the day you present and give it to the others. Presentations given on the first date will receive a minor amount of extra credit to make up for the smaller preparation time. - Wes
