Welcome to the Zhong Group at the University of Michigan, Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Our laboratory focuses on the exciting research area of Nanoelectronics and Nanophotonics. We are most interested in carbon based nanomaterials, such as carbon nanotubes and graphene (a single layer of graphite). We are also interested in other nanomaterials including semiconductor nanowires and nanocrystals.

Our research interests include: (1) Demonstration of high-frequency nano-devices operating at microwave and terahertz (THz) frequencies; (2) Investigation of the photovoltaic effect in nanomaterials with applications to solar cell technology; (3) Development of highly sensitive chemical and biological sensors based on novel nano-devices; (4) Novel synthesis of nanomaterials, such as carbon nanotubes and graphene.
