Hi Wes,

To get BLAST to work on OS X, first make a symbolic link to foci in the
blast directory (foci's one directory back) (for some reason, this command
doesn't work in the makefile-- no clue why).  Then when you try to run ant
distclean, you'll likely get an error that M4 doesn't exist.  (You could try
installing M4 by hand, but then you'll probably discover you don't have gcc
either, which M4 needs in order to build.)  So, follow the
instructions here

to get gcc.  M4 will install too.
