Subject: SDS SingleStep demo versions (for home use) Date: Tue, 22 Sep 1998 15:33:10 -0400 From: "Steven K. Reinhardt" Organization: Univ. of Michigan EECS Newsgroups: umich.eecs.class.373 Thanks to the generosity of Software Development Systems, Inc., we have a bunch of CD-ROMs in the lab that contain demo versions of the SingleStep debugger and simulator, as well as demo versions of the Metaware assembler and linker that we're using. If you have a Windows 95/98/NT PC at home, you can run (almost) the same thing that's available in CAEN. (The major limitation is that you can't simulate peripherals, which we will start doing in lab 3. You can still get a significant fraction of even the later labs done on this version though.) To install the software, run the setup program on the CD. In the first dialog box ("Type of Software"), select "Demonstration Software - Starter Kits" and hit Next. In the second dialog box ("Choose Products"), choose "PowerPC Starter Kit with Metaware High C/C++ Compiler". The rest of the installation should be self-evident. Please return the CD to the lab once you've installed it at home. If you're really desperate and/or have a high-bandwidth net connection, you can download the demo version directly from SDS as well (www.sdsi.com). -- ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Steven K.
