Gloomy Streets utilizes an audiovisual performance system developed on a web browser. Here, every keystroke made on a laptop to write a poem is captured and processed to establish natural links among the typing gestures, the text written, and audiovisual responses. The piece is built upon a poem written by Pain about feelings of being isolated from the general public and living in solitude, his comfort zone. The performance capitalizes on temporal typography built on a web browser using Web Audio API and Web Graphics Library, offering unique text animation sculpted with live audio to audience.
