 The main thing I would like people who look carefully at these web pages
  to get from them is a sense of why it might make sense to combine careers
  in computer science, linguistics, and philosophy.  The personal stuff, of
  course, is important to me but I don't imagine that most people who visit
  these web pages would find it very interesting.

• My wife is  Sally Thomason .
• This is what our much-missed dog (who died in 2010) looked like.
• I spend summers in the Swan Valley, in northwest Montana and enjoy
  hiking, forestry, and nature photography. 
• I'm on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of Swan Valley Connections, a community-based conservation and education organization. 
• Three personal heros.
