Conversational Implicatures in Non-Cooperative Situations Robert van Rooij The paper will concern implicatures in case the speaker's and hearer's preferences are not completely aligned. What can be inferred in case preferences are known and the speaker has to say the truth, and what happens if the speaker is not even obliged to tell the truth? I will relate this with recent work in economics on (i) persuasion games, and (ii) credible communication.
