- July 10,11 2008 -- First Courses Workshop in Western Massachusetts, hosted by Commonwealth Alliance for Information Technology Education (CAITE). Open to CAITE, CITI, and 5-College faculty - outside MA, please inquire!.

All Media Computation workshops are free to faculty, with travel stipends ($300/person) and room and meals included, as well as a CD with all software.
Brief Description of Workshops
- Introduction to Media Computation: This workshop will introduce faculty to teaching with the Media Computation approach. We will cover introduction to computing in Python and in Java, and data structures in Java, using an approach that emphasizes relevance and creativity.
- First Courses Workshop: A whirlwind introduction to FIVE new approaches for teaching introductory courses in computing: (1) Introduction to Media Computation in Python, (2) and in Java, (3) Introduction to Data Structures with Media Computation in Java, (4) Introduction to Engineering Computing using MATLAB, and (5) Introduction to computing using robotics using Python.
2007 Workshop
The first NSF-sponsored workshop on teaching with the Media Computation approach was held June 11-13 2007 in Atlanta on the Georgia Tech campus. We are planning on three workshops in 2008: Atlanta, Chicago, and Boston.
