Location: Klaus Advanced Computing Building, Room 1447. Directions to the building.
Time: 1:00pm-4:00pm
Price: $30 per person
Open to: 4th-6th grade students
Max: 30 students

Materials: Laptops mice and chargers (1 for every 2 students), NXT kits (1 for every 2 students),Resource kits (1 for every 2 NXT kits),tape, foam core boards or ramps

Parking: State Street Parking Lot. Parking is $2.00 per hour. Parking directions can be found here.

In this Saturday workshop students will create Robotic animals with Lego Mindstorms NXT kits. Students will then program these artificial creatures with NXT-G language to move about and react to their environments.

Agenda
• Drive a square
• Forward and back
• Forward spin and back
• Avoid the wall using ultrasonic sensor or touch sensor

Learning Objectives:

• Select, build, and modify from plans a Robotic Animal at: http://www.nxtprograms.com

• Use NXT-G Language to program animal to move and react
• Use of motor blocks and parameters of power, direction, and duration to move
• Use of Ultrasonic, Touch, Light, and Sound Sensor to read environment
• Use of Switch, Wait, and Loop Conditional statements to mimic behavior
