Android Cell Phone Lending Library for 2013-2014

The Institute for Computing Education (ICE) at Georgia Tech has 18 cell phones that we can lend to schools. We have Nexus phones. These phones can be used with MIT's App Inventor. You will have to leave a deposit of $50.00 when you borrow up to 8 phones and a deposit of $100.00 when you borrow up to 15 phones. If the phones are not returned intact the deposit will be forfeited. If you choose to leave the deposit in the form of a check make it payable to the "Georgia Institute of Technology". The check will be returned with a confirmation letter if the phones are returned on time and in good condition (with all parts).

Each school can borrow up to 15 of the phones at a time for a time period up to 3 weeks during the school year. We use the phones in our summer camps and teacher workshops in the summer. The teacher is responsible for picking up the phones from Georgia Tech and for returning the phones to Georgia Tech unless other arrangements have been made. The sign-up is first come first served.

To directly connect the phones to your computers you will need to install the device drivers for the phones. To use App Inventor the computers must have Java and the Android SDK loaded.

Please allow five business days between return date and pickup date for sorting and checking; five days are also needed to approve your request. Approved requests will be added to this list
