Thomas Cooper will lead this workshop from 8:30am - 4:00pm in room 345 of the College of Computing Building at Georgia Tech. For directions see Directions to the College of Computing Building. Teachers will learn how to use python to create a simple face, more complex shapes, speech balloons, and animation. Teachers will create a temperature convertor with a Graphical User Interface. Teachers will write a Python function to display a nursery rhyme or song. Teachers will also create art with the Scribbler robots.
All teachers who attend will receive a Python book.
This workshop is free for Georgia teachers, and if you live > 30 miles from Georgia Tech we will pay for your hotel for Wednesday night (2 teachers per room), Wednesday night dinner, and Tuesday breakfast. Alchohol is not covered! If you would prefer a private room you will pay 1/2 the hotel cost. We will cover parking for Georgia teachers who stay at the hotel and reimburse parking for Georgia teachers who do not stay at the hotel. We will pay for lunch for all teachers. We can also reimburse for substitutes for Georgia teachers. Space is limited to 30.

Use parameters, user input, loops, lists and dictionaries.
Download python files on various math, science and engineering topics from Google's Computational Thinking site and decipher the code
8:30am to 8:45am - Install Python IDLE and Myro Graphics Library
8:45am to 10:00am - Create a simple face, complex shapes, speech balloons, and aniamtion
10:00am to 12:00pm - Create a temperature convertor and a simple GUI
12:00pm to 12:30pm - Lunch
12:30pm to 2:00pm - Program a nursery rhyme and/or a song
2:00pm to 3:45pm - Create art with the Scribbler robots
