This workshop will be in room 345 of the College of Computing Building. See Directions to the College of Computing Building for directions. Teachers will program a Pleo dinosaur robot using MySkit or a Finch robot using Python or Java. They will also build and program LEGO WeDo, LEGO NXT robots, or LEGO Tetrix robots (only teachers with prior NXT experience and some programming experience). The LEGO NXT robots will be programmed using a drag-and-drop blocks language: NXT-G. The Tetrix will be programmed using RobotC. The workshop will explain how to cover introductory computing concepts by programming robots such as: sequential execution, conditional execution, iteration, creating your own methods (my block), and event-driven execution.

Public school high school teachers must register on http://www.ctaern.org for workshop CTAERN3382(look in new catalog). Everyone must also register at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/6WLZ93L. Teachers must attend the entire workshop and do 2 hours of extra work and show that extra work during a webinar to get credit. The workshop runs from 8:30am - 4:00pm. This workshop is free for Georgia teachers, and if you live > 30 miles from Georgia Tech we will pay for your hotel for Wednesday night (2 teachers per room), Wednesday night dinner, and Thursday breakfast. Alchohol is not covered! If you would prefer a private room you will pay 1/2 the hotel cost. We will cover parking for Georgia teachers who stay at the hotel and reimburse parking for Georgia teachers who do not stay at the hotel. We will pay for lunch for all teachers. We can also reimburse for substitutes for Georgia teachers. Space is limited to 30.
