Pictures
This workshop is intended for teachers who work with younger kids (elementary school aged). We will do an introduction to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) topics using CS Unplugged, PicoCrickets, Pleo robots, and LEGO WeDos with Scratch. The workshop will start at 8:00am and end at 3:00pm. We will provide lunch for all attendees.

PicoCrickets are an arts and crafts kit for the digital age. You can create a musical pickle, test your reaction time, make a kinetic sculpture, and much more. See http://www.picocricket.com/ for more information.

A Pleo robot is a baby dinosaur robot that acts as if is alive. You can program it to react to different sensors in different ways. See http://www.pleoworld.com for more information.

LEGO WeDo is a new kit from LEGO that has LEGO parts, a motion sensor, a tilt sensor, a motor, and a USB hub. You can use these kits with Scratch 1.4. Scratch is free software from MIT that allows students to easily create 2d animations and games. See http://www.legoeducation.us/store/detail.aspx?CategoryID=188&by=9&ID=1573&c=1&t=0&l=0 for the WeDo kit. See http://scratch.mit.edu/ for more information and to download Scratch.
