We will use a hotel shuttle to get you to campus and return you to your hotel. Your lodging and meals are covered for the workshop (but not parking). You will be staying two teachers per room. If you wish to have a private room you will need to cover the additional cost (about $70) a night. We will register for you at the hotel by May 25th.
This is a 4 day workshop. We will begin with lunch at noon on June 28th and end at 6:00pm. On Wed and Thursday we will start at 8:00am and end at 5:00pm. On Friday we will start at 8:00am and end at 3:30pm. Teachers must attend the entire workshop to get 3 PLU credits for the workshop.
This workshop is for teachers who either took the Programming and Systems Workshop in the Summer of 2004 or who have experience in a programming language such as Visual Basic, C++, C#, or Java.
We will cover working with pictures, sound, and text. We will talk about Java syntax, iteration, conditionals, input/output and exceptions. We will cover class and object variables (fields) and methods. We will also cover object-oriented principles: objects, classes, encapsulation, inheritance, polymorphism.
This course should prepare you to be able to take the College Board AP workshop either the same summer or the next summer.
