Introduction to LEGO NXT
Show some building instructions for a robot project. Explain that the 1X and 2X are the number of that type of part that is needed. Show how to measure an axle to make sure it is the right size and explain that the right size does matter. The size of the axle is the number of studs it would cover on a brick. The studs are the circular dots on top of the bricks.
Explain how to use the picture of the parts and bins to find where to look for a part. Show the three type of similar black connectors and explain how to tell them apart. Ask them to work in groups of 2-3 people. Have one person look for the parts you need next and one person assemble the parts. Switch roles several times during the building of the basic robot.
