| I've seen at least one student who downloaded the latest Java SDK (1.6 or 6.0, depending on which numbers you're looking at) and the latest DrJava and it wouldn't work at all. DrJava kept complaining that there was no Java compiler available! What we did was to download the LAST DrJava (also available at http://www.drjava.org) and the Java SDK 1.4. That worked quite well. So, if you're having extreme problems like that, try this approach. Most everything should work with 1.4. You might also try 1.5. I think the key is to avoid the LATEST DrJava and the LATEST Java – IF you're having problems. Mark Guzdial |
