Has the class started pairing off for HW6 yet? I know its due in 2 weeks, but I thought about getting a head start...or at least not waiting until the Wednesday beforehand to start.
I encourage you to do so! Mark Guzdial

The class is getting a bit more interesting now that its not just "1315 in Java" anymore.
Excellent! Glad to hear it! Mark Guzdial

HW5 doesn't look hard to do, but then HW4 either, until I got some array error...over and over again....8 times....
I think I'll go work on HW5 now.........

Is it possible to get a zero on a homework assignment if your code doesn't work exactly as expected? I'm not saying that the person turns in code that does nothing at all, but maybe code that still has some errors.
No – if you turn SOME REAL ATTEMPT in, you will get SOME credit. Mark Guzdial

My computer believes that Java is a virus. That makes doing work in this class a lot harder...
Just ignore that. Some virus detectors think that Java 1.4 (but not 1.5 – it was fixed in 1.5) is making inappropriate network connections. Don't ignore and keep going. I've had to do that with my own Symantec virus detection, and I'm able to program fine with it still. Mark Guzdial

How many people are in this class? Is it an even number? Just asking since pair programming is coming up.

Some people in this class will have to be tracked down for the sake of other people's grades when we start pair programming.I know at least one person who never shows up to class. I hope they know about the pair programming.

I try to let people know what's going on via email. I mostly get ignored. If their grades suffer then, it's their choice. Mark Guzdial

Okay, I mean, if I can't get a partner for the pair programming assignment, should my grade suffer because someone else doesn't care?

Let's see...20/2=10, so there would be 10 pairs if everyone works in pairs. However, if an odd amount of people don't pair up(1, 3..) then someone is left without a partner, whether they wanted one or not.

Can a grace period be added to the homeworks? Maybe 5 or 10 minutes, because I tried to turn in my assignment at around 9:50 ish on Friday(I know...very late), and WebCT counted it as late. I'm assuming because it didn't process it until after ten(10:01 to be precise) that it counts as late, but that seems a bit unfair.

REMOVEDke we'd sweat 5 or 10 minutes? Pshaw. Mark Guzdial
