Comment area for Week of January 23 and January 30

So? Whatcha thinkin'?

HW1 was good.. although I accidently submitted the back-up "Picture.java~" instead of the actualy file and feel pretty stupid about that - I didn't even know there was a back-up file! ;P BLEH. HW2 looks exciting. :):):)

Considering I don't know where else to put this......

wait...Picture.java~ was the BACK-UP file?! NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! I thought that was the file to turn in! Well, there goes my grade....

Okay, back to the topic. For people like me who weren't here the first week of classes, can I still get a CD? I was reading through the site when I saw that CDs were given out the first day. I know its late, but are there any CDs left

I've used both Python(well, Jython, Close enough) and MATLAB. I would put Java in the middle. Java is better than MATLAB in my opinion(especially since MATLAB rarely points out mistakes in detail like Java/Python. It just tells you there is a mistake to fix) and Java is more versitile than MATLAB. However, I'm having more problems programming in Java than I ever had in Python. I don't know if its the Java classes or how Java requires more to install/run(It took me at least 2 hours to set up, and I'm still having problems), but I actually like Python a little better. Plus, some error messages in Java don't make any sense to a beginner programmer like students. I got one that said something about version 48.0 instead of 49.0, and I have no idea what that's about. But, I would say Java is in the middle, just a bit below Python and way ahead of MATLAB.

If you turned in the wrong one, send Manabu the right one. We'll be kind at first. Mark Guzdial

YAY! I can still turn in the right HW1?! That's good news. I didn't want to start the day class on the wrong foot

So, I'm reading this comment page the week of January 30, since I saw no comment page for this week.

About the HW1 regrade.....

How late is too late to turn it in? I too made the mistake of turning in the wrong file, but I'm reading about this regrade a week after it being posted, so can I still turn in the assignment? I realize its about 3 weeks late, but can I still do it? It would make me really happy if I could still turn it in. Please tell me that I can still turn it in.

NOt on topic at all:
Has anyone here played Earthbound(or Mother 2 as its known in Japan)? I like that game. Its pretty old(SNES) and not very pretty graphics-wise, but its really funny and it has hippies. Hippies are fun.

THIS IS A COMMENT PAGE FOR CS 1316!!
DO NOT PUT STUPID, RETARDED BULL**** COMMENTS ABOUT YOUR LIFE HERE!
KEEP IT ON TOPIC!

This is a comment page, and all the topics here don't have to be about CS 1316 as long as they are not offensive, like the last comment. Just like the announcement page can have anything in it so can this one, as long as you keep it clean. Thank you and good day.

HW3 kicked my [bad word]. I am so confused. Missing one assignment couldn't hurt that much though, so I guess its okay.

Yes, this is a Comments page. Any reasonable (e.g., not off-color, not blatantly offensive) comment is acceptable.

If an incorrect file has been turned in for HW1, we'd let you turn in a new one within 24 hours of notice to you. But we already have correct turnins for those who made a mistake on HW1. We won't accept a HW1 now if one was never turned in then.

I would have been happy to help you with HW3! I had three folks who sat with me through all of office hours on Friday, and they all got it done. Maybe start a little earlier on the next one so that you can get help? Mark Guzdial
