Mr. Kim is currently working toward the Ph.D. in electrical engineering, and is working with Prof. Zhengya Zhang in the Michigan Integrated Circuits Lab (MICL) and Prof. Jeffrey A. Fessler in the Systems Lab. His research interest is in building signal processing systems for the emerging computer vision and medical imaging applications.

He received his M.S. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI, USA, in 2011, and the B.S. degree in electrical engineering with summa cum laude from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), Daejeon, South Korea, in 2009.

Research interests

-          Low-power and high-performance VLSI systems

-          Algorithm and architecture co-optimization for high-performance signal processing

-          Sparse neural-inspired computer visioin systems

-          Unconventional building blocks for neuromorphic computing hardware

-          Adaptive medical imagning hardware using machine learning

-          Image processing, machine learning
