I am currently working as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and more specifically in the Database Research Group, under the supervision of Dr. H. V. Jagadish.
I received my PhD and Masters from Florida International University, in 2009 and 2005 respectively, where I worked under the advice of Dr. Vagelis Hristidis. Previous to that, I received my B.S. degree in Computer Science from Universidad del Valle de Guatemala in 2001.
Research Interests
My current research interests include:
- Genetic Data Integration: Integration of known genetic information, as found in databases, to perform a more effective analysis of gene expression data from micro-array experiments.
- Domain-specific Data Management: How to use domain knowledge and domain information to improve the management of data, as well of the information discovery experience.
- Information Retrieval on Semistructured Documents: Efficient algorithms to search XML documents, and to evaluate the results.
- Storage and Processing of Semistructured Data: How to efficiently store and parse XML documents.
