Research Summary

I am working on techniques to build secure and safe Internet of Things platforms. I approach the problem from multiple perspectives including system building, attacks, and measurements. My recent work, a security analysis of the popular SmartThings platform, received the Distinguished Practical Paper Award at IEEE Security and Privacy in 2016 alongwith widespread press coverage. I am also interested in mobile systems security. Most recently, I built a system and algorithm that extracts entities from mobile app pages privately, efficiently and with good accuracy. I often collaborate with Jaeyeon Jung. My advisor is Prof. Atul Prakash.

I document some of my recent results in IoT security at this webpage.

I am on the job market

I am teaching EECS 588 in the Winter of 2017. Please see the course website for more details.
